Postcards from Wales

Bala

On the slate roof of
The White Lion Hotel, the
Jackdaws cough and caw.

Llanberis

Deep in the rock-cleft,
The tiny twisted oak wears
Its coat of lichens.

Llangollen

Under the old arch
The dipper tears past; one inch
Above the river.

Blaenau Ffestiniog

Small slate-roofed terraced
Houses cling to the hillside
Under the mine's scar.

Corris

On the steep valley
Side, slate headstones stand out like
Teeth ominously.
